OPTICIAN - FRAME MAKER
The Maison michèle B.
When we asked Michèle what inspired her to become an optician and eyewear designer, her answer was simple: a lifelong love of glasses. From a young age, she was captivated by the way a single frame could transform a face. That passion led her to study optics in Paris, where she graduated in 1986. To Michèle, glasses are never just medical devices — they are deeply personal objects. A frame can enhance, soften, rejuvenate, or reveal someone’s character. It’s both function and self-expression, practicality and style woven together.
With this belief at heart, she opened her very first boutique in 1987 — while expecting her first child. In the beginning, she carefully curated rare collections and customized existing designs. Before long, her creative spirit led her to design and craft her own frames.
Eyewear soon became a true family story. Her children grew up surrounded by colors, sketches, tools, and conversations about shapes and materials. In their home, glasses weren’t just products — they were part of everyday life, part of their dreams, and part of their craft.
Today, the Maison Michèle B. is proud to welcome clients into its two boutique-workshops in the heart of Paris’s historic Marais district. Each pair of glasses is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted to reflect the individual who will wear it. The house works with noble materials such as cellulose acetate and buffalo horn, honoring the rich tradition of French eyewear craftsmanship.
Deeply committed to sustainability, they prioritize responsible sourcing, short supply chains, and creating frames made to last.
Alongside their bespoke creations, they also offer ready-to-wear collections — so everyone can find a piece that feels just right.
